Pooja Camphor

Pooja camphor, also known as “kapur” in Hindi, is a highly aromatic substance commonly used in Hindu religious rituals and ceremonies. It is derived from the camphor tree (Cinnamomum camphora), which is native to Southeast Asia. The camphor used in pooja (prayer) ceremonies typically comes in solid, small tablets or pieces and is burned as an offering during rituals.

When ignited, pooja camphor produces a fragrant, purifying smoke that is believed to have the power to dispel negative energies and create a spiritually uplifting atmosphere. The scent is considered to be a symbol of purity and is thought to help in connecting with the divine during prayer or meditation.

The camphor is often placed on a metal plate or diya (oil lamp) and lit as part of the aarti (worship) ceremony, where it is waved in front of the deity. The flickering flame and fragrant smoke of the camphor are seen as offerings of light and energy to the gods, signifying the removal of darkness and the invocation of divine blessings.

Pooja camphor is also said to promote mental clarity and focus, making it ideal for creating a calm and focused environment during spiritual practices. It is highly valued not only for its spiritual significance but also for its role in creating a peaceful, purifying atmosphere in homes and temples.
